
Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque library is keen on developing its collection and adding to it a good selection of various additional sources of information through local exhibitions and the latest publications in both Arabic and English languages, in addition to some other languages used by the different society categories in order to achieve the following objectives:
Educational objective: through the provision of different references, books, sources of information and tools which help in the self-learning process and in the preparation of scientific research.
Cultural objective: through cultural awareness-raising among the community members, and facilitating their access to sources of information which could help them enrich their culture.
Information objective: represented by the provision of knowledge tools and information sources with the easiest ways, least amount of efforts and quickest time to serve scientific researches.
Promotional objective: represented by the library’s contribution in individuals investing their time in beneficial and entertaining things, while encouraging them to read and develop their knowledge and technical skills.
General section: it includes all the books which are classified according to Dewey Decimal System which has divided knowledge into ten sections in both Arabic and English languages.
Periodicals’ section: the library encompasses periodicals in both Arabic and English languages pertaining to different topics, in addition to 5 daily newspapers.
Children’s section: this section encompasses many books and stories in Arabic and English, which are compatible with children’s age categories in the aim of developing their reading and cognitive skills and capacities.
Higher Studies’ section: this section encompasses 180 Master’s and PhD studies in various scientific, literary and historical fields.
Omani section: it encompasses Omani books and publications of some governmental bodies, in addition to official gazette issues.
References’ section: it encompasses a big collection of reference books, encyclopedias and information sources in different knowledge areas.
Referential service: represented by responding to the beneficiaries’ queries and guiding them to the right reference according to their needs. It is also represented by assisting the researchers by teaching them how to use the library’s bibliographies and electronic sources.
Current notification service: the library aims through this service at notifying the beneficiaries of the latest books, references and sources of information joining its collection.
Photocopying service: it enables the beneficiary to photocopy articles from periodicals or books or other references, in compliance with the national and international copying and publishing rights in force, in exchange for small fees.
Internet service: the library offers Wi-Fi to be used in the research and scientific fields relevant for the beneficiaries.
Disclosing service: the library aims through this service at disclosing different forms and types of articles from periodicals and making them available for the beneficiaries.
Audiovisual service: the library provides a number of audiovisual materials for the beneficiaries in different scientific and literary fields, and provides as well a device to copy magnetic tapes.
Computer service: the library provides this service through the availability of several computers equipped with different required devices, in order to help the beneficiaries in using them for the service of their different scientific and research-related requirements.
Electronic Bibliography service: the library aims through this service at facilitating the beneficiaries’ task in looking for sources of information inside the library, and ensuring quick reach of the required materials.
Keeping totally calm and quiet and not using cellphones.
No eating and drinking in the library.
The use of internet shall only be for the purposes of scientific research.
Being cautious while using the library’s items and furniture, and avoiding writing on them.
The library is a reference; no borrowing is allowed for any item in its collection.
The library provides specific halls dedicated to scientific discussions and group studying. They can be used after the approval of the library’s curator, and group studying is not allowed unless in these halls.
Using the electronic bibliography system to search in the library’s collections. The staff in charge shall be clarifying its use for the users.
Leaving the books used on the table.
Photocopying service is available with very simple fees, according to the system adopted. The library staff can be referred to in case photocopying is needed.
Observing general rules of conduct and respecting the appropriate dress code and the mosque’s sanctity.

Books: books are considered among the most important information sources in the library’s collection. Their number exceeds 23342 books.
Periodicals: the library is subscribed to a number of periodicals. Some of them are also provided to it as gifts, and they are diversified pertaining to the way they are issued.
University theses and dissertations: the library encompasses a number of different university dissertations from different scientific and academic fields from inside and outside the Sultanate.
Daily newspapers: the library provides a number of daily newspapers which are directly available for the beneficiaries.
