The Knowledge Library was established on 13/11/1990, based on to the instructions of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, during the celebrations of Oman’s 20th National Day. The library deploys assiduous efforts to spread knowledge and culture within the Omani community, while seeking to provide high performance and distinction in addition to fulfilling the community’s needs. The library provides several services to the public, mainly to all categories of students, researches and scholars, by offering a valuable collection of various information sources in English and Arabic of different levels so that they suit all ages. Books are considered the main source of information in the library's collection whereas their number exceeds 22000 books, 45% in Arabic and 55% in English.
There are two types of information sources, printed and electronic.
These rules and regulations aim at assisting all the library users in order to achieve maximum benefit from the library's services and resources.
It is prohibited to take any book or other library items outside of the library. The library’s employees have the right to search any objects that the beneficiary has if they notice anything suspicious in what he is carrying. It is prohibited to damage any books or other library items. In case this happens, the user causing the damage shall be requested to replace the item or pay for it. The library is a quiet place dedicated to studying and scientific research. The library users are requested not to display any inappropriate behavior reflecting any misuse of it. Smoking, eating and drinking (except for drinking water) are prohibited inside the library. Violating the library rules and regulations:In case of any violation of these rules and regulations, the employees have the right to ask the user to leave the library.
Entering the library:Entering the library depends on respecting the sub-mentioned rules and regulations. For this reason, the library is open for everyone.
The library services have witnessed a big development throughout the last few years. It has been working since its establishment on providing its services to the esteemed public and lifting up the quality of those diversified services the appropriate way. We hope that the Public Knowledge Library will be your first stop for any enquiry whereas there are no fees to entering it, there is no condition to have a membership in it to be able to use its services, and anyone can have access to the available sources. MagazinesThe library is subscribed to a number of magazines in Arabic and English. The articles' titles are scrutinized and the magazines are stored in a database within the library to facilitate the access to them when need be. The library is also subscribed to a number of electronic databases including AskZad and ProQuest

Audiovisual materialsThe video collections are supported and developed through specific collections which cover different topics and fields of knowledge. The library aims at developing and updating those collections in order to respond to the different users' needs.

8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
The library closes its doors on Fridays, Saturdays and official holidays.
The working hours change during the holy month of Ramadan.
